CMF by Nothing Buds

With so many earbuds available in the market it is very difficult for a common man to choose the perfect earbuds as per their need. Today in this blog post we will review the newly launched CMF by Nothing Buds.

Unboxing - Inside the Box

CMF by Nothing Buds box comes with the following items:

  1. User Manual

  2. Extra Earcups

  3. Earbuds

Design and Build Quality

This latest Nothing Buds comes in a matte finish rectangular case which might feel bulky, but is compact and easy to carry with you. The case comes with a roller on the top left corner, with the option to attach a strap to it. The case does not have any branding on it but comes with a battery indicator light on the front side and a button with a charging port on the right side. Overall, the build quality of the case is pretty impressive.

The buds are held tightly inside the case with the help of magnets and they do not fall from the case. The earbuds are stem-shaped and come with a matte and glossy finish which has an impressive and secure fit. Being lightweight earbuds you can easily wear them for long hours.

It comes with an IP54 water and dust-resistant feature that protects your earbuds from splashes of water and dust, making it a great companion for workouts and exercise.

Connectivity

Connectivity will not be an issue with this pair of buds, as they come with the latest Bluetooth technology 5.3, which provides a long-lasting and secure connection with your device. Also, it comes with Instant Wake and Pair (IWP) technology which allows you to establish an instant connection with the last paired device in a few seconds after you open the lid. Another good feature of the Nothing Buds is that it comes with Dual Device pairing support through which you can connect to two devices at the same time.

Battery Life

CMF by Nothing Buds comes with an impressive battery life in the price range it comes. You get around 7 to 8 hours of playback time on a single charge, depending on the usage of ANC mode, and a total of approximately 30 hours of playback using the charging case. With the Fast charge feature of the buds, you get 6 hours of playback time by charging it for 10 minutes.

Application Support

What most brands neglect in this price range is the application support, but with these buds you get access to Nothing X Application support. On opening the application you can see the battery percentage of the earbuds, switch between different equalizer modes, customize the touch controls based on your comfort, and even turn on / off the active noise cancellation feature. Also, you can turn on / off the in-ear detection mode, gaming mode, and much more.

Active Noise Cancellation Mode

Nothing buds comes with 42 dB noise cancellation mode, and after trying a test in both indoor and outdoor conditions we can say that the feature works pretty decent. In indoor conditions, the ANC mode works impressively and cancels most of the background noise, but in outdoor conditions, it catches some of the background noise and overall cancels approximately 80% of the noise.

Gaming Test

CMF Buds comes with a 50ms low latency gaming mode named Low Lag mode which offers an amazing gaming experience. We tried a BGMI game test with this earbud in the Low Lag mode and we can say that we were pretty impressed with the gaming mode. The in-audio experience, stereo separation, and volume are impressive, and you can easily identify if the enemy is coming from left or right.

Sound Quality

The earbuds come with 12.4 mm dynamic drivers with BioFibre and TPU diagram used, and Hi-Def Audio tuned by DIRAC. With multiple equalizer modes, you can change and even customize it. The trebles and vocals in the buds are amazing, but in instrument separation, you might feel slight distortions. In Dirac Opted mode, you get a surrounding sound experience. Overall, the experience is pretty impressive and balanced.

Speaking about the bass, you get surrounding and boosted bass experience, but the extra boosted bass is missing.

Calling Test

CMF by Nothing Buds comes with a Quad microphone setup with Clear Voice technology. We tried a calling test in both indoor and outdoor conditions, and we can say that the overall calling experience in indoor conditions is pretty good, but in traffic conditions, it will catch some background noise.
